Countesthorpe has unusually strong local funeral facilities. Bay Tree can coordinate the complete arrangements while your loved one remains in our care at our nearby funeral home and private Chapel of Rest in Blaby.
South Leicestershire Crematorium
Officially South Leicestershire Memorial Park and Crematorium, it is situated on Foston Road at the northern end of Countesthorpe, beside the existing cemetery. Many local families simply refer to it as Countesthorpe Crematorium.

Chapel capacity
The chapel seats 100 people. By using the foyer, it can accommodate around 200 seated and standing guests. For particularly large services, sound can be relayed outside beneath the porte-cochère.
Music, photographs and webcasting
The chapel provides an Obitus media system, organ, public-address system, two screens for photographic or recorded tributes, and webcasting for people unable to attend in person.
Accessibility and parking
Published facilities include level access and a hearing loop. Parking is available for 89 vehicles, with overflow capacity for approximately another 40 spaces.
Cremation, burial or memorial services
The crematorium chapel may be used for cremation services, burial services connected with the neighbouring cemetery and memorial services. Samantha can coordinate the venue, officiant, music and timing.
Time and privacy
The crematorium describes allowing time between services, with separate arrival and departure routes, nearby parking and level access intended to make the day feel calmer and less pressured.
Countesthorpe Cemetery
The cemetery is located off Foston Road and is administered by Countesthorpe Parish Council. It provides burial and cremated-remains plots, subject to current availability, rules, fees and permissions.

Chapel of Remembrance
The cemetery’s historic Chapel of Remembrance was refurbished by the Parish Council and provides a quiet place for reflection. Published opening arrangements should be confirmed before a visit.
Existing family graves and ashes
Bay Tree can help coordinate a new burial, reopening an eligible family grave or an ashes interment, subject to ownership, permissions, remaining space and the Parish Council’s current regulations.

A church service followed by cremation
A funeral may be held at St Andrew’s with committal afterwards at South Leicestershire Crematorium. Alternatively, a member of the clergy may lead the complete service at the crematorium, subject to availability and agreement.
Personal and non-religious services
A ceremony at the crematorium can be religious, non-religious or family-led and may include music, readings, photographs, eulogies and personal tributes.
Other crematorium choices
Great Glen and Gilroes may also be considered where availability, family connections, travel or the preferred setting make them more suitable.

Registering a death
The correct registration authority depends on where the death occurred. Samantha can explain what happens after the medical examiner or coroner has completed the required documentation.
