Samantha Ward, Lady Funeral Director at Bay Tree Funerals
Know who will guide your family
When you call Bay Tree, there is every chance you will speak directly to me. You can simply tell me what has happened, even when you are unsure what to say or what needs doing.
I will explain the immediate next step, help bring your loved one into our care when appropriate and guide you through the decisions at a manageable pace.
I remain personally involved in both the funeral arrangements and your loved one’s care at Bay Tree, supported by our small family team. You will know who is responsible and who to call when another question comes to mind.
Nearby and independent: Bay Tree’s funeral home and private chapel of rest are at 7A Welford Road in Blaby. Littlethorpe families can meet Samantha privately there, with free parking and time to talk without feeling rushed.
A meaningful difference in care
Once your loved one comes into our care, they remain at Bay Tree Funerals in our own private chapel of rest. Samantha stays personally involved and does not simply complete the arrangements before handing responsibility elsewhere.
When comparing funeral directors, ask one simple question: “Where will my loved one actually be cared for before the funeral?”
The person guiding your arrangements stays connected to the care taking place behind the scenes.
Visits can be discussed with Samantha and arranged sensitively in Bay Tree’s own chapel of rest.
Samantha and the Bay Tree family team remain your clear point of contact from the first call onward.
Comparing funeral directors in Littlethorpe
Ginns & Gutteridge has a funeral home directly in Littlethorpe and is part of Dignity Funerals. Bay Tree is an independent family funeral director based nearby in Blaby. Both can arrange a Littlethorpe funeral, so compare the current written prices, exact inclusions and where your loved one will be cared for.
Bay Tree Funerals
Ginns & Gutteridge — Littlethorpe
Their current Littlethorpe page says this includes a Basic Coffin. It separately estimates £1,304 for cremation and a celebrant or minister, producing a displayed estimated cremation total of £3,899 before optional extras.
Important: the two services are not assumed to be identical merely because both are described as attended funerals. The £445 figure compares the current headline prices displayed by each provider. Families should compare the complete written inclusions before deciding.
Ask where care takes place
Dignity’s own published guidance says its Care Centres are specialist facilities where loved ones may be cared for before the funeral and transferred to a chosen local funeral home for a chapel visit. Dignity also says care may take place in the chosen funeral home or a specialised central mortuary facility.
That does not mean every person using Ginns & Gutteridge Littlethorpe follows the same route. It means the family should ask the branch directly where their loved one will rest. At Bay Tree, the answer is straightforward: your loved one remains locally in our own care in Blaby.
Simple guidance from the first call
You do not need to prepare anything first. Samantha will ask a few gentle questions, explain the immediate next step and remove the practical burden from your family.
Say where the person has died and anything you already know. It is all right not to have every detail.

The principal parish cemetery

The council publishes current cemetery regulations, fees, interment paperwork and memorial requirements. Eligibility, grave rights, availability and permissions must be checked before a funeral date is fixed.

Bay Tree can liaise with the parish priest and coordinate the funeral-director responsibilities.

Death-registration guidanceLittlethorpe Village Hall on Biddle Road may be considered for refreshments or a gathering after the funeral. The council states that it can seat up to 50 depending on layout, includes kitchen facilities and has free parking.
Availability, catering, alcohol and booking conditions must be confirmed directly with Narborough Parish Council.

After arriving in Leicester from Canada, my uncle passed away unexpectedly , and I was responsible to take care of his arrangements. Not having lived in Leicester for many years, I chose Bay Tree based on their excellent reviews and I, too, am giving them an excellent review. It was a very difficult time as two months later my aunt also passed. I cannot speak highly enough about my experience with Bay Tree. From from my first visit they demonstrated exceptional compassion, professionalism, and respect for both my family and my loved ones. They handled every detail with care and sensitivity, making a challenging process feel much more manageable. Their clear communication and willingness to answer questions gave me peace of mind, and it was evident that they genuinely cared about honoring our loved one’s memory. The arrangements were carried out beautifully, with great attention to detail and dignity. It meant so much to us to know that everything was being handled with such thoughtfulness and respect. I am truly grateful for their support and would highly recommend their services to anyone in need of a caring and professional undertaker.
