Markfield Cemetery
If your family remembers a grave on Leicester Road but can’t find the number, start with the name and the year. I can help check the plot before you make plans for another burial.

Arranging a burial here
Markfield Parish Council manages the Leicester Road cemetery. I’ll check what space is available for a new grave or a further burial in a family plot before arranging the service.
Asking about burial of ashes at Leicester Road
If you’d like ashes buried in Markfield, tell me whether you mean the parish cemetery on Leicester Road or the natural burial ground on Markfield Lane. For Leicester Road, I’ll ask the parish about a new ashes plot or check a grave your family already has before you choose a date.
How much would it cost?
If you’d like to know the cost of an interment of ashes, give me a call. I’ll check the cemetery fees and explain any charge for our help. You can ring even if someone else arranged the cremation.

The Leicester Road cemetery opened in 1888. Markfield Local History Group has access to the older burial records and can help trace a grave or read an inscription. A full name and rough year are a good place to start if you no longer have the grave number.
Reading the cemetery plan
The history group’s plan divides the ground into lettered sections. Its published survey includes sections A and C. If a name is missing from those lists, there are other sections to check. St Michael’s churchyard has its own separate survey.
