If Barwell was home but your relative later moved away, you can still ask about scattering ashes in the Garden of Remembrance. Ring me and I’ll check permission and the arrangements for your family.

Arranging a burial here
The parish rules cover Barwell residents, including someone who moved away for full time care, and make provision for rights bought while living in the parish. A recent move away can also be considered at the council’s discretion. I’ll check any existing deed and the family’s circumstances before booking.
Burial of ashes at Kirkby Road
At Barwell a cremation plot has space for two caskets. If you want to keep a partner’s ashes in the same earthen grave as a coffin, tell me before the grave is bought. The burial registrar needs to know the depth you’ll need before the first burial.
How much would it cost?
If you’d like to know the cost of an interment of ashes, give me a call. I’ll check the cemetery fees and explain any charge for our help. You can ring even if someone else arranged the cremation.
Call Samantha on 0116 278 8868Can someone who lived outside Barwell have their ashes scattered here?
The Garden of Remembrance has its own rules. The council can agree to a scattering there even if the person lived outside Barwell. It asks families to leave the garden clear of vases and ornaments. We can request permission before you choose a day.
When can a headstone go up?
After a coffin burial at Kirkby Road the council asks for at least six months for the ground to settle. It may take longer. For a cremation plot there is no settling period in the rules. The memorial mason still needs the council’s permission.
