Arranging a burial here
The council has separate arrangements for burial and ashes plots and for scattering ashes in its walled memorial garden. Residence affects the charges. I’ll check the applicable terms if someone moved away after buying a plot.
What do we need for a burial of ashes?
Sileby has a section for cremated remains where ashes can be buried in an urn or casket. The parish asks for the cremation certificate before the burial. If the family already holds the burial rights, I can check whose permission is needed to open the grave.
How much would it cost?
If you’d like to know the cost of an interment of ashes, give me a call. I’ll check the cemetery fees and explain any charge for our help. You can ring even if someone else arranged the cremation.

Sileby has a chapel you can hire for a service before the burial. If you would like to put flowers in the chapel yourself, we can ask the parish council to open it ahead of the service.
When a new grave is sown with grass
Sileby normally leaves a new or reopened lawn grave for 12 to 18 months before sowing grass. The council asks families to collect temporary decorations after the first year. Once the grass is established, there is a small space by the headstone for flowers.
