I take personal responsibility for their care here in Blaby. I do most of it myself, with help from one other lady on our team. Tell me about any wishes for their care.
Planning the service
We can start with the person you’ve lost. Perhaps there’s a hymn they loved, a reading that reminds you of them or someone who would like to speak. I’ll talk with the person leading the service about how to include those wishes.
Can some people come just to the church?
Yes, you can invite friends to the church service and keep the burial or cremation for close family. I’ll check the timings with the people taking the service and help you put the two invitations into words.

Use High Street, LE8 6LP for Whetstone United Reformed Church. St Peter’s is on Church Lane and Whetstone Baptist Church is on Dog and Gun Lane. Giving guests the full church name will help them find the right entrance on the day.

It was so important to us to find a family-run funeral director, not only one that we as a family felt comfortable with, but one that we knew our dad would have liked too. After ringing several funeral directors, I knew almost immediately, from the moment Sam answered the phone, even whilst she was on holiday, that this was the funeral director we wanted to take care of our dad. We wanted somewhere local so that Dad could remain close to home, and we were able to drive past every evening while he was in their care and say goodnight as we drove past. Sam works incredibly hard behind the scenes, orchestrating everything in a way that turns your wishes into something even more special than you could imagine. She listened to everything we wanted and followed our wishes perfectly, making what was such a difficult time feel so much easier. We are so grateful to Sam and her lovely family, who do a job that perhaps doesn't always receive the recognition it truly deserves. Their compassion, professionalism and attention to detail were exceptional from start to finish. One memory I will never forget is seeing Dad's hearse approach our home and hearing the song we had asked Sam to play for his final journey. That song means so much to both me and my brother. Not only did she play it outside our family home, but she played it while taking Dad to the church and then on to the crematorium. A special thank you to the lovely pallbearers, who probably had that song playing in their heads for the rest of the day! Thank you to you all for carrying our dad with such, care and respect. Thank you, Sam, from the bottom of my heart. We will never forget the kindness, compassion and dignity you showed our dad and our family. You helped us give him the farewell he deserved, and for that we will always be thankful. Our dad's farewell was so special because of your hard work, dedication and attention to detail.
